Voucher Reimbursement For Trainers

Educational funding is available under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) to qualified trainers to help pay for classroom training provided to eligible persons who have been laid off from their jobs or meet other WIA eligibility requirements. WIA can issue vouchers to eligible trainers to be redeemed at the pre-approved training facility of their choice.

In order for your facility to receive WIA funds through this voucher system, the training facility and training offered must be pre-approved by the N.C. Division of Employment and Training and the Local Area Workforce Development Board that administers this funding. Gaston County is one of the Local Areas who administers WIA classroom training funding.

To obtain approval for Gaston County classroom training funding you must complete the following steps.

STEP ACTION
1. Submit an application for approval to receive WIA funds through Gaston County at www.ncstars.org following the directions under "Registration for New Training Providers. This may also be a good time to apply for approval with other Local Areas that you feel you may have dealings with in the future.
2. You will need to provide information about the type of training your facility provides, cost of training, length of training, and a copy of your company’s W-9 tax identification (Request for Taxpayer ID Number and Certification form). W-9 tax forms are available from the IRS Forms and Publications website or you can obtain a blank W-9 form from Pam Beane, Regina Bumgardner, Lisa Buser Grant, or Genet Costner. WIA Training Coordinators at 330 N. Marietta Street, Gastonia NC 28052 (also by facsimile at 704-862-7939).

Once you have completed the above steps, your request for approval will be voted on by the Gaston County Workforce Development Board at their next scheduled meeting. If your facility is approved for training, the local area will enter this on the ncstars web site. If you have questions or need additional information please contact Lisa Buser Grant (704)869-6892, Regina Bumgardner (704)862-6692, Genet Costner (704)862-7875, or Pam Beane (704)862-6693
